There are two ways to get unemployment compensation payments from the Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA). After reading the pre-acquisition disclosures, claimants have the option of receiving their benefits by prepaid debit card or by direct deposit into their savings or checking account. In order to set up one of these two payment methods and receive benefit payments, claimants must supply the required data.
Claimants need to have an active account with a U.S. banking institution in order to use the direct deposit option. Both checking and savings accounts are acceptable for receiving benefits. Claimants will require their account number as well as their banking institution’s nine-digit routing number. Unemployment compensation will be electronically placed into the claimant’s bank or savings account when the Direct Deposit option has been set up.
• Beginning on August 24, 2021, the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency will no longer deposit money into customers’ Bank of America debit card accounts. Up to January 27, 2022, your Bank of America card account will be operational.
• You can still use your card up until January 27, 2022. Your card won’t be renewed if it expires after December 9, 2021. Select the “Transfer funds” option on this website to send money to an existing checking or savings account. After January 27, 2022, if there are any funds left in your card account, you must call us at the number printed on your card to learn more about how to get access to the amount.
